Robinhood Chain vs Base vs Arbitrum: An Honest Comparison
How the Robinhood Chain compares to Base and Arbitrum on architecture, fees, ecosystem maturity and what each is actually for — including where it loses.
They are not competing for the same thing
All three are Ethereum Layer 2s that use ETH for gas and settle back to Ethereum. Underneath, the Robinhood Chain and Arbitrum share the same technical lineage — the Robinhood Chain runs on Arbitrum Orbit using the Nitro stack.
What differs is purpose. Arbitrum is a general-purpose L2 with the deepest DeFi ecosystem of the three. Base is consumer-facing and social-heavy, with the largest retail onboarding funnel. The Robinhood Chain is purpose-built for tokenized real-world assets, led by Stock Tokens.
Where the Robinhood Chain is genuinely different
- Tokenized equities as a first-class citizen. Neither Base nor Arbitrum has an equivalent flagship asset with a major brokerage behind it.
- A distribution channel the others do not have. Robinhood's existing user base is enormous and largely new to on-chain activity.
- Blob data availability, which keeps the settlement half of the fee low.
Where it plainly loses today
Being honest about this is more useful than a scorecard.
- Ecosystem depth. Arbitrum has years of protocols, audits and tooling. The Robinhood Chain reached mainnet in July 2026. That gap is real and will take time to close.
- Tooling maturity. Indexers, analytics and infrastructure providers are still arriving.
- Liquidity. TVL in the hundreds of millions is a strong start and a fraction of the established chains.
If you want the deepest DeFi liquidity today, this is not the chain for it. If you want tokenized equities that compose on-chain, none of the others offer it.
What it means for NFTs
A young chain is a disadvantage for liquidity and an advantage for visibility. On Base or Ethereum a new collection competes with years of established projects. Here, the field is genuinely open — and the users arriving for Stock Tokens are exactly the kind of audience that has money and is new to NFTs.
If you are weighing where to launch: how to launch a collection on the Robinhood Chain.
